The most important effect, however, is that the more links any given site has from other site the more authority that sites has in the eyes of search engines.

If other sites link to you search engines will assume that you have something important to say and you will naturally come up higher in search that are related to your site. It makes perfect sense why would other websites link to you unless you were saying something important or interesting. Now the higher you rank for search terms related to your site, the more visitors you will get. The more visitors you get the more popular your site will become and the more successful you will be.

There are a great many ways to get other websites to link to yours, baiting is one of the most effective. Baiting essentially means you are specifically doing or saying something on your site to get the attention of others in hopes that they will talk about what are doing. By talk I of course mean write and when they write about you the will inevitably link back to your site.

I have found that the most effective way to drive other sites to pay attention to your own is by using the word free. You will, of course, need to back that word up as well. No matter what your site about giving away free gifts, or free samples, is an amazing way to get hundreds of links without doing any work at all.

Here's an example of a free sample to draw in a ton of links from other sites. Give away free samples of refrigerator magnets. Each magnet will have some info about your site along with its name. This is sure to bring you a ton of links without really draining your wallet.

Use free samples to draw tons of traffic to your site. It's cheap, easy, quick and very effective. Remember the more links you get the more visitors you will receive and the close you will be to your goals.
